T ’16, Ormond Beach, FL
Ernie obtained an International Baccalaureate Diploma from Spruce Creek High School, where he was an active member of Student Government, NHS, and various community service activities. Though his major is officially undecided, he is interested in political science and English and obtaining a Certificate in Documentary Studies. At Duke, Ernie is a member of House Council and Duke Democrats, a painter with the Duke Innovative Design Agency, a Multimedia Project Consultant, and a proud member of the most diverse class in Duke history. From creating films to incite social change, working as an intern on local political campaigns, and participating in mission trips to Tanzania and Kentucky, Ernie now hopes to use his interests in politics and media to make a difference in his new North Carolinian home. Ernie is thrilled and thankful to be a member of the Reginaldo Howard scholar community, a community of talented students with diverse interests. His transformation from Florida native to tried-and-true Blue Devil/“Cameron Crazy” was a gradual one, but the support system and camaraderie of the Reggie community made it much more enjoyable.
