2018 – Miami, Florida
Michael graduated from North Miami Senior High School with an International Baccalaureate Diploma. Finding that fun and academics aren’t always separate, Michael loves languages, and was very successful in his French courses in High School. Consequently, he also studies different languages as a hobby.
Michael was involved in various community organizations, including the Miami-Dade County Youth Commission, a youth advisory board for the local government, and the 100 Black Men of South Florida, Inc., a mentoring and community-oriented organization.
Michael has also worked as a research aide for the University of Miami, studying the genetic background of Parkinson’s Disease, and was the President of his school’s science honor club, Phi Beta Chi. His major is undecided, but he hopes to work in something that involves government as well as international affairs and that can draw on his interest in language.
Grateful to be a Reggie as well as a Blue Devil, Michael hopes to continue the legacy of scholarship and excellence that the Reginaldo Howard Memorial Scholarship and its namesake have already founded. Drawing from his Christian background, Michael works as a form of thanks for all the opportunities he has been blessed to enjoy.
